My name is Kayla Duclos and I create reverse glass paintings inspired by horror, pop culture and personal stories.
Each piece begins with the smallest details painted directly onto glass.
Layer by layer, the image is built in reverse before a hand painted canvas background is sealed behind it.
The subject lives on glass, the atmosphere lives behind it.

Why Reverse Glass Painting? I don’t feel like I chose this medium, more like it chose me.
Revere glass painting requires intention. It forces commitment. There are no do-overs and no layering over mistakes. Once a mark is on the glass, it stays.
From the front, the image looks clean and controlled. Behind it are the layers that built it.
You may not see all the layers, but they are always there.
This process demands focus. It teaches control. And when the glass is turned over, it becomes release.
